Pre-occupied
What a day it has been for me today....so many things have happened and coincided... and now I'm feeling both excited and fed-up at the same time. Well...this weekend is certainly crazy and unproductive (in terms of homework...lolz...)

Anyway, I woke up on Saturday morning with a stinging headache that just won't disappear...actually, I had the terrible urge to just pop a couple of aspirins to ward off the pain...but after hearing a report that the chemicals in Panadol does affect your brain(I'm so NOT kidding u), I have tried my very best to steer clear from that white pill. So, I spent the morning enduring the pain while i tried to do my econs essay....

Conclusion: Don't do econs when you have a headache...especially an essay...

After 2 hours and lots of pen-twirling, i gave up and hopped onto my bike to cycle along the coast... Well, to think about it, this is actually the second time I've rode on my new bike and it's definitely a heartening thought to entertain: 1 year plus to ride along East Coast before I'm moving house...the thought of leaving East Coast is definitely a sad one...Anyway, I attempted the ride all the way to Changi (the route using my old, squeaky bike) and ....i nearly succeeded... the heavy rain was my obstacle...and i decided to head back about 100m from that half- point...imagine cycling like 10 km in the rain.....u get SOAKING wet....

The only consolation was that the coolness of the rain seemed to wash away the pain from my head...and replace it with "refreshed-ness"-new word...haha....it also provided a rare chance for me to transverse the world alone...(lol..my world is tiny Singapore..)...And....i finished that dam essay...

As for Sunday, it was another day to remember...it was the 3rd time I've been to the Esplanade (as in inside the contours..) and this time, the trip was meant to bring the elderly from Block 12 of Marine Terrace to enjoy a Chinese Orchestra (C.O.) concert organized by Nangyang Polytechnic.

Haha...by the way, the last time i really watched C.O. was during sec. 4, and that was like CNY? So the notion of watching a C.O. performance had nearly put me off initially...(trust me...all the C.O. concerts I've been to never fail to put me to sleep...)

However, i was wrong this time...well..nearly wrong...This C.O. concert was certainly quite entertaining compared to the others. Apart to the monotonous commentator with her dull and unentertaining tone, the concert was certainly an eye-opener! The gu-zheng ensemble was first, and it was the start of a 1-hour escapism into the world of Chinese music. Although they were the smallest in number (about 8 in all), the music was soothing to the ear, with the occasional sharp halts and rapid play.

Next was the woodwind and percussion ensemble-Boy, this was to me the highlight of the show. With the introduction of a conductor, the concert began to show its potential. The conductor was really an expressive character-As the first song was "Ting O O (sky black black in hokkien), he got the audience to participate...u may wonder... how?

Well...he got the left side of the crowd to shout "Bei Zhi Giam" and right side of crowd to shout "Bei Zhi Cheng", which meant "porridge cook salty" and "porridge cook bland" respectively. It was pretty hilarious when he got the audience to do so, in conjunction with the song and with the C.O. playing and halting for the audience to shout out the porridge quote....it was rather ROFL....

Never mind those antics of his, when it really came to the serious stuff, he really seemed like a guy with passion. When the string ensemble played a short piece by Tony Osbourne named "Sweet and Light", my attention was fixed on the conductor...The way he gesticulates (like a mad man to the untrained eye), his hands moving with the flexibility of a slithering snake (make it 2 snakes... cos 2 hands...haha..) and his body swaying to the music like coconut tree leaves to the wind...it seemed as if he was possessed. However, from his quirkiness and charisma (the way he gets his message to the public), he seemed to be the highlight of the show.

Well, it seemed rather ridiculous...to dedicate a couple of paragraphs to this man...when the actual performers are the cast of the C.O....yet it was with his assistance that they are able to put together a piece of music. Nevertheless, the C.O. also deserved kudos with their outstanding performances and their fluent delivery. When the entire cast come together to perform, it was simply magical. Of course, towards the very end, it somehow felt like abrupt...maybe due to the fact that the boredom is starting to set in... In the end, I couldn't help but stifle a slight yawn, as everyone (me included) left quickly as soon as the show ended.

Ok...if you are still reading...thank you so much for persevering...haha...

Guess what...I got myself a new keyboard/piano. Will be getting it tomorrow...that's not all...i'm getting myself a guitar tomorrow too! WHEE!!! The thought of these musical instruments gives me a sense of exhilaration. However...deep in my heart, I feel a sense of guilt- Honestly, i feel bad that I'm not forking out the money to buy them...but on second thoughts...i ought to feel happy...cos at least finally...they are buying something which I want (it's not everyday that your wishes can come true in just...a month?)

Wah...looking back...i realized that i wrote so much...and it's already 1 am...dotz...i ought to be asleep now....guess I'll hit the hay now... :D
