Experiences
ALOHA! Back, back, BACK! Man, i swear people think my blog has died or something. Haha, I've really not been touching my blog for the past 2 weeks. It's not because my interest of blogging had waned, but rather, I've really been swarmed with work, and i guess that work isn't really a pretty cool thing to talk about in a blog. Yeah. Anyway, this weekend had been a blast for me. Outing with half the Iban group, Bishan A.R.K., and of course lan and pool at night. How cool can that get for a weekend? I mean, with such a tight schedule, this is the best i can get, before the monotony of another week with tests and lectures hit me so hard that i lose conscious.
Hmm, last Friday night, got to meet up with the Iban GFs for dinner and chat. we met at Mandarin garden before heading over inside to ThaiPan to enjoy a meal of butter squids and other tasty delights. We chatted about work (mainly about the MJ's tuition scenario), school and of course, each other. It was really heartwarming to see them again cos everytime i do so, i will be reminded of the good old times of Camp Hutan. Seeing them again sort of relieved me of my present worries and made me forget about all the stress in school. Anyway, after dinner, we walked all the way to Neptune Court before we entered inside and chatted for another half an hour at the playground. It got to be the weirdest scene ever, seeing 7 teenagers standing on top of the "castle" and chatted and chatted and chatted. Did you know there is a mini bird park with flamingos and other exotic birds just around Mandarin garden? Or that's just what Kianyan and Linda said. haha, I gotta check it out myself, i mean - Not 1, but a few flamingos!!! where else can we get to see that? Haha. after we got bored (or for Sean's case- tired), we proceeded to the nearby 7-Eleven. Never in my life had I expected such a reply- "Shall we go drink liqour?" God, I was speechless at that suggestion. They proceeded to buy Hooch and some other alcohol. God, I think i was the only one there who had yet to taste anything alcoholic (apart from the beer which i had a few sips during CNY before i gagged and sweared never to touch again). The moment i tasted in, it was....Hmm... u can say both strong and "Wow". I don't know man, but i remembered i took quite a big gulp from the 8.8% alcohol bottle. I nearly fainted- LOL, not from the effects but from the first sensation of the beverage. In the end, i guessed i survived in all to recount all these. Still, i could remember the only other vivid thing was KianYan sort of being self-remorseful for introducing me to one of the 7 sins, and i couldn't help but smile at the end of it all. These meetings with the Ibannies are always full of surprises and entertainment. Iban BAIK!!! =P The next morning, i woke up pretty early and the after-effects of that sinful beverage didn't really seeme to have an advers effect to me (Phew). Destination: Bishan Junction 8, Level 3, Open Plaza. I set off at 10 a.m and believe it or not, ireached there at 10:40 a.m., like 50 mins early. i mean, i didn't expect such a journey on bus and train could take such a short time. I ended up "hanging" around till the actual time, which was by then buzzing with activities. The Open Plaza itself was especially busy, with swarms of TJians busy making last minute preparations. The theme; Acts of Random Kindness aka A.R.K. and our job: to publicize and spread the message of being kind-hearted to the general public through colourful and simply-designed cards. It was so cool when afternoon came, and everybody wore the orange shirt that was provided. (Just a random note: I got 4 orange T-shirts- Tj made and proud of it!) We got down to business and sorted out the cards and pasted identification stickers on it. While doing so, we got a beatboxing performance by out very own TJian, Ryan. Man, he's good! And once everything was ready, 2 hours of card-giving and message-sending began. It reminded me so much of collecting-money-in-those-metal-tins scenario, minus the need for collecting money. Even so, the free cards didn't really had an attractive effect on the masses, as they were mostly busy with thier own stuff and shopping. Still, this was half the masses, and the other half responded pretty well to our efforts. Very soon, our efforts pretty much paid off, and i could see a constant flow of people entering the Open Plaza. Seems that the mobilization of the propaganda team worked! In the end, everything worked out pretty well, albeit a little sore throat from all that presuasion. Only one thing: I didn't get to see Paul 2Hill perform!!! ARGHH!!! Last of all, i went to Simei to have a mini-gathering with the boys from 4R. Actaully, it was just 5 boys in all (including me) and it was a far cry from the 10+ people that will normally congregate at the KFC outlet before proceeding to spill some guts at the Lan outlet. Still, we managed an hour of fun, before we got kind of bored and ended up buying butter popcorns (note butter again-now i'm getting kind of seek of it again) and Ben & Jerry's ice-cream before proceeding to Abhishek's house for pool. Haha, i pretty much suck at that game, but hey, it's the gathering that matters. hopefully there will be more people for the next outing in....2 weeks time? Haha, time really flies by when one is so engrossed with doing what one likes. Ok, until then Hola! Labels: experiences |
